THE BELFAST WRESTLERS OF THE 1960's
My Father wrestled in Belfast and surrounding towns in the 1960's.
He wasn't flash or show business and went under the name of Strongman Harry Corr.
He didn't appear to do it for the glory. Others some of who I have payed tribute to
had very exotic and showy names such as Whirlwind Monroe, Flash Shirlow, The Butcher,
Judo Hamil, Toe-Joe ( A Belfast born black taxi driver of oriental origin).
Harry simply turned up and performed wearing black trunks
wrestling boots and importanly for us his 3 sons he smashed it almost everytime and on
the rare occasion when he got thrown from the ring he would make up for it as part of the
Tag Team.

LOVE IN THE GARDEN OF MARC CHAGALL Saint Paul de Vence
Working with recycled materials cake boxes , paper, foil, glue and a  sharp knife,
I let the process of creating images and one thing leads to another. Often it's the materials which lead the lead me to a theme. I have recently been commissioned and this brings about a different mindset where you consider what you do beforehand. Everyday excites me as I know I'm going to create something new and end up god knows where.
Everywhere I go I see the potential to create art. I find myself studying the things we disregard. I
also love the freedom working with unwanted materials gives me.
When working with oil paint and canvas I'm always conscious that every stroke needs to matter, with my knifes and paper I know longer think this way and the relief helps me create work I love. I rarely set out to work within a theme and as the most interesting things begin to appear. The materials seem to know what they want to become and I work in a semi conscious mode. This is exciting and very rewarding for me.
